About kid.com.au

kid.com.au helps Australian parents find and compare childcare. It lists every service approved under the National Quality Framework, from long day care centres and kindergartens to family day care schemes and before and after school care, with each service's quality rating, type of care, approved places and opening hours, and explains what care costs after the Child Care Subsidy.

Where the childcare data comes from

  • Services, ratings, places and hours: the ACECQA National Registers, the official list of approved education and care services kept by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority. The current data is from the register export of 29 October 2026. We refresh it from each new export; services that leave the register are removed and their pages send visitors to the other services in the suburb.
  • Ratings are shown exactly as the register records them, including the month they were issued. A rating can be up to several years old; the date tells you how recent the assessment is. See how ratings work.
  • Locations and distances: each service is placed at the centre of its suburb or postcode, not at its street address, so distances in the finder are approximate ("about 3 km").
  • City pages use the ABS Significant Urban Areas (ASGS Edition 3, 2021), matched to services by postcode.
  • Fees: Department of Education, Child Care Subsidy data report, June quarter 2026. These are averages by state and care type; we do not publish fees for individual services because services do not report them to the register.
  • Child Care Subsidy: rates, income thresholds and hourly caps for 2026-27 (from 6 July 2026) from the Department of Education and Services Australia. The calculator uses the same figures.
  • Schools: ACARA My School data. Baby names: NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

What kid.com.au is not

kid.com.au is not a government site and is not affiliated with ACECQA, the Department of Education or Services Australia. We cannot hold a place, process a Child Care Subsidy claim or tell you your exact entitlement: for that, contact the service directly or Services Australia on 136 150.

Corrections

If a service's details are wrong, the fastest fix is at the source: services update their details with their state regulatory authority, and the change reaches the national register and then this site at the next refresh.
